THE STEWARD · A LOCAL STARTING POINT

Ready to learn again?

Free GED preparation and English classes through West Georgia Technical College.

You do not have to settle every question before making the first call. Tell the college what you want to work toward and which town is convenient. Its adult-education staff can explain the next step.

Two useful starting points

Finish a high-school-equivalency credential

WGTC offers free GED or HiSET preparation, practice resources and career guidance. Testing fees are separate; grants and scholarships depend on eligibility.

College preparation program and campus contacts

Build your English skills

The college lists free English classes covering reading, writing, speaking and listening, with in-person and virtual options. Staff can explain placement and the available schedule.

College English-class information

Registration dates checked with the college

These are intake appointments, not the weekly class timetable. Ask the college to confirm your campus, room and requirements before going.

Make the first call manageable

Call 770-838-3192 or email wgtcadulted@westgatech.edu. You can say: “I am interested in GED preparation or English classes. I live near this town. What should I do first?”

Use the college’s own process for personal documents. A public website comment is not the place to share an ID, school record or household information.

Keep exploring close to home.
