Useful writing must be truthful writing.
Our Steward’s Style calls for plain speech, humility and claims no stronger than the evidence. Scripture informs our care for people and the land. It does not turn a product preference or wildlife guess into a biblical command.
Four kinds of material
- Original observations: what a photograph or a dated field record actually shows.
- Documented facts: linked agency, Extension and manufacturer material, with the date checked.
- Editorial advice: a suggested way to plan or compare, stated as advice.
- Unresolved questions: details that still need evidence, left openly unresolved.
Products, photographs and permission
Owner use is not the same as a measured test. Researched candidates are not endorsements. New affiliate endorsements wait for Daniel’s explicit approval, and any approved affiliate placement must be clearly disclosed beside the recommendation. We do not award “best value” while material costs or comparisons remain unknown.
Original photographs receive a factual caption and credit. Camera timestamps are distinguished from verified dates. Personal harvest photographs require a separate public-use decision. We remove identifying file metadata from web derivatives and withhold exact private locations.
Reader submissions remain subject to review. Sharing something with us privately does not automatically give permission to publish it. For a contribution, we need the rights holder’s explicit permission, agreed credit and appropriate permission for identifiable people, including a parent or guardian where relevant.
The reader’s interest comes first
We check the exact model, seller, compatibility, ownership cost and return or warranty terms. We explain when keeping, repairing or borrowing equipment makes more sense. Manufacturer claims and Daniel’s actual observations remain distinct. A high rating or an affiliate commission never substitutes for evidence.
Read the buying standard and current product notes. Unknown costs stay unknown; unresolved seller or compatibility concerns hold a purchase recommendation.
A steady pilot, subject to verification
The planned rhythm is Monday’s Learn the Woods, Wednesday’s Field & Land, and Friday’s Weekend Outdoors, with an occasional longer original feature. These are editorial slots, not promises of automatic publication. If an item cannot be verified, it waits.
The existing Friday-sundown-through-Saturday-sundown homepage continues to lead with grace through faith in Jesus Christ. The journal remains reachable through navigation.
Corrections
Use Ask the Steward with the article title, the disputed statement and a source if you have one. We will check the issue and date material corrections. There is no need to agree with every editorial suggestion to help us get a fact right.
