Walkers, children, road crossings, and busy trailheads call for a patient pace. The City’s current guidance lists Class 1 and 2 e-bikes as allowed and Class 3 as prohibited.

The 61.5-mile trail runs through Cobb, Paulding, and Polk counties to the Alabama line. Official pages describe it as non-motorized but do not clearly explain e-bike access, so verify with the jurisdiction managing your starting section.

Rockmart, Cedartown, and Esom Hill give West Georgia families several western starting areas. Pick the exact trailhead only after checking parking, facilities, distance between services, and the e-bike rule for that managing jurisdiction.

Take ten quiet minutes now so the family is not standing beside a loaded vehicle looking for a charger, trail address, or missing helmet.
Set a distance the least-experienced rider can finish with battery and energy left. For a first trip, an out-and-back lets the family turn around early.
Check the trail manager’s current page for closures, hours, and your exact e-bike class. A Georgia road rule does not override a more restrictive local trail rule.
Use the manufacturer-approved charger, stay present, and unplug when complete. Do not charge a damaged, swollen, unusually hot, smoking, or odd-smelling battery.
Squeeze both brakes, check tire pressure and wheel security, confirm lights and mirrors, fit every helmet, and inspect any child seat, trailer, footrests, or passenger handles.
Bring charged phones, identification, water, a compact tire pump, any needed medicine, and a simple snack. Save the trailhead address before leaving home.
Share the starting point, direction, expected return time, and who is riding—especially for a rural road or a quieter Silver Comet section.

SHARED TRAIL & FAMILY SAFETY
Extra speed arrives quietly. Use the lowest useful assist around children, walkers, pets, blind curves, playgrounds, trailheads, and road crossings.
Slow first, announce the pass early, leave room, and wait when another rider is approaching. A family should ride single file when the path is busy.
A trail does not carry you safely through a road. Slow down, obey the control, look both ways, and make sure every child is across before rebuilding speed.
Georgia requires helmets for riders and passengers under 16 and for every Class 3 rider and passenger. Moss & Sons recommends a fitted, fastened helmet for every rider.
Slow down before looking. Do not crowd, follow, feed, or ride off the path toward an animal. Dawn and dusk can improve wildlife viewing while also reducing visibility.
Turn around before the battery estimate or the family’s energy becomes tight. Wind, hills, temperature, assist level, load, stops, and tire pressure all change real-world range.

Carrollton’s current city page lists Class 1 and 2 e-bikes as allowed and Class 3 as prohibited. That page also contains an unfinished ordinance placeholder, so confirm with the City when the rule affects your trip. The GreenBelt’s older general rules page still describes the trail as non-motorized.
The official Paulding County Silver Comet page describes the trail as non-motorized without clearly addressing electric bicycles. Georgia law supplies a general rule, but local agencies may be more restrictive. Ask the jurisdiction managing the section you plan to ride.
