Day trip · About 2–3 hours

Route direction: Compare Poplar Springs → Highway 100 and Highway 100 → Broad Street. Each has a source-reported average of about 2–3 hours.

Stay: No overnight stay selected. Keep the trip inside a conservative daylight window.

  1. Open the current weather, alerts and river measurement sources again before leaving.
  2. Confirm the put-in, take-out, parking and any private permission for that day.
  3. File a float plan with one responsible person ashore and give them an overdue action.
  4. Put every phone and key in its own waterproof closure; secure loose gear to the boat.
  5. Stage the take-out vehicle before launching and keep its keys with the paddling group.
  6. Every paddler needs a properly fitted, readily usable life jacket.
  7. Inspect each boat, paddle and tie-down before the drive.
  8. Fishing is not included in this plan.
  9. Pack simple food and water that do not require cooking.

POSSIBLE GROUP LOGISTICS PILOT

Send a few adults for the cars.

The practical idea is simple: a prearranged group brings its own boats, leaves vehicles at an approved starting location, floats to an agreed downstream takeout, and uses one trailer trip to return the boats while no more than three adults ride in the truck to retrieve the remaining vehicles.

For a developed-Hideaway-to-Poplar-Springs trip, the Hideaway would remain private and available only to registered guests or people with permission. Other preplanned routes would require a separately agreed lawful pickup, takeout and vehicle plan.

Where can I plan a quieter kayaking trip near Atlanta?

The Tallapoosa River and Dub Denman Canoe Trail in Haralson County offer a West Georgia alternative to the better-known Atlanta and North Georgia paddling areas. This independent guide helps with route order, planning estimates and current-source links; it does not operate the trail.

Does Moss & Sons rent kayaks or guide floats?

No. Visitors bring or independently arrange their own lawful, suitable boats and equipment. Moss & Sons does not currently advertise kayak rental, guiding, route monitoring or rescue.

Can I stay beside the Tallapoosa River?

Two separately booked family-owned private river properties near Buchanan are linked here: a developed full-hookup Hideaway and a separate primitive Wilderness Retreat. Hipcamp remains the source for availability, price, rules, photographs and private directions.

Is group boat and driver retrieval available?

Moss & Sons is evaluating a prearranged group-logistics pilot. It is not currently a bookable shuttle. Any future offer depends on insurance, Georgia passenger-carrier requirements, vehicle and trailer capacity, lawful pickup and takeout access, written scope and weather-dependent availability.
