Fishing here is mainly wade fishing. Bank fishing is difficult and, in our family’s experience, usually produces small bream. Ask about conditions before booking and only enter the water when conditions and your abilities allow. Bring your own gear and check current fishing rules. Children need direct adult supervision near this natural, unmonitored river. Floating is self-guided with your own boats, equipment and return transportation.

Wade fishing, lunch under the pavilion, and time together beside the river. Most fishing here involves wading to reach different spots. Reserve the developed Hideaway for a same-day visit with your group. Kayaking is optional.
Expect mainly wade fishing.
In our family’s experience, fishing from the bank is possible but difficult, and usually produces small bream. Plan on wading to reach most fishing spots. This is not an easy bank-fishing destination, especially for a child’s first outing. Ask Daniel through Hipcamp about current conditions before booking. Only enter the river when conditions and your group’s abilities allow; catches and suitable conditions are not guaranteed.
The day reservation gives your registered group property access during the listed hours. Bring your own rods, tackle and bait; equipment and fishing instruction are not included.
Leave room for the rest of the day.
Pack lunch, chairs, drinking water, sun protection and a bag for discarded line. The covered pavilion, deck, private enclosed pit toilet and separate drinking-water spigot give you somewhere to take a break.

One vehicle? A few pieces still missing?
Planning a family or group float can be harder than picking the route. If you need a pickup, help getting back to the vehicle, an extra kayak, or another part of the plan worked out, ask Daniel. We may be able to help find a practical arrangement.
For a developed-Hideaway-to-Poplar-Springs trip, the Hideaway would remain private and available only to registered guests or people with permission. Other preplanned routes would require a separately agreed lawful pickup, takeout and vehicle plan.

Families wanting an easy first bank-fishing outing should choose a location with suitable bank access. Ask about current conditions before booking; only enter the river when conditions and your group’s abilities allow. Bring your own equipment and supervise children directly; catches are not guaranteed.
Where can I plan a quieter kayaking trip near Atlanta?
The Tallapoosa River and Dub Denman Canoe Trail in Haralson County offer a West Georgia alternative to the better-known Atlanta and North Georgia paddling areas. This independent guide helps with route order, planning estimates and current-source links; it does not operate the trail.
Does Moss & Sons rent kayaks or guide floats?
A visit does not include kayak rental, guiding, route monitoring or rescue. If you are short a kayak, ask Daniel whether help might be possible for your date and group. Suitable equipment and any arrangement must be confirmed before your trip.
Can I stay beside the Tallapoosa River?
The developed full-hookup Hideaway offers private tent and small-RV camping for up to eight registered guests. Bring your own accommodation; the pictured camper is not included. The separate primitive Wilderness Retreat is closed October 7, 2026–January 10, 2027. Hipcamp shows current availability, full prices, rules and private directions.
Is group boat and driver retrieval available?
Ask Daniel about your date, group size, route, and vehicle situation. We may be able to help work out a return plan; this is an inquiry, not a bookable shuttle. Any future offer depends on insurance, Georgia passenger-carrier requirements, vehicle and trailer capacity, lawful pickup and takeout access, written scope and weather-dependent availability.
