Moss & Sons · A little time outside

Enjoy the water.

Choose the water outing first, then check that the access, conditions and equipment suit it.

6 starting ideas

Allow preparation and travel time as well as time on the water

Try this today

  1. Choose one activity and a destination that allows it.
  2. Check current conditions, access, operating hours and the return or shuttle arrangement.
  3. Review the relevant lake or river guide and agree on a shorter alternative before leaving.

Bring: Activity-appropriate flotation and equipment, water, sun protection and a way to keep essentials dry.

Choose an idea

  1. Take a boat outing

Choose a launch that suits the boat and check its access details. Plan fuel, weather, flotation, navigation and your return. Use the lake guides to compare ramps and listed services.

  2. Paddle a kayak

Choose water that suits your training and the group’s experience. Check launch and takeout permissions and current conditions. An advertised trail does not guarantee today’s flow or an open access point.

  3. Float a river

Start with a suitable established route and work out the shuttle before committing. Check the river planner, conditions and equipment needs; river mileage alone does not predict how long the trip will take.

  4. Try a paddleboard

Use an activity-permitted launch and conditions suited to your ability. Check local rules and use the correct flotation, safety equipment and leash arrangement for that type of water.

  5. Swim where swimming is allowed

Choose an open pool or designated swimming area and check the operator’s rules and supervision. Boat ramps, river access points and fishing banks are not automatically swimming places.

  6. Fish from the bank

Look for permitted shore access with footing and space suited to the group. Confirm licenses and site rules, watch hooks around other people and plan how everyone will get back comfortably.

Water conditions can change quickly. Use the linked destination guides and official condition sources before choosing an outing, and supervise children closely around water.

Make it local. Go a little further.

Have someone in mind for this? Pass the idea along.
